Blog Tour: 'Escape to the Riviera' by Jules Wake!

Carrie Hayes is ready for the summer of a lifetime...

Quiet and unassuming Carrie Hayes has a nice, steady life with long-term boyfriend Alan. But she’s been keeping a secret hidden for years. A whirlwind marriage to Hollywood superstar Richard Maddox when they were young and foolish and life was full of endless possibilities. Although no longer together when Richard went to fulfil his acting ambitions in America, they’ve never quite got a divorce.

And now a chance meeting in the paradise of the glamorous French Riviera is about to change Carrie’s summer, and entire life, for ever...

Today I'm really excited to be part of the blog tour for a great summer read, namely Jules Wake's 'Escape to the Riviera'! The book was released by Avon on June 30th and I was lucky enough to receive a review copy and be invited to be part of the blog tour for the book. This is actually my first experience with author Jules Wake and I was really curious to check out her writing. Luckily, 'Escape to the Riviera' promised to be quite the captivating read and I looked forward to picking it up. Be sure to visit some of the other blogs that are taking part in the blog tour for some more reviews and content, the links can be found on the blog tour banner!

Over the years Carrie Hayes has built up a nice and steady life for herself. Even though she decided to set aside her own dreams of acting and directing, she likes her job as a drama teacher at a secondary school, has a good relationship with her boyfriend Alan and enjoys living together with her sister Angela and niece Jade. When Alan proposes, Carrie immediately says yes, but she quickly realises she will need to take care of something first in order to marry him. Carrie is actually already married to Richard Maddox with whom she shared a whirlwind romance when she was younger. However, Richard is now a heartthrob actor known all over the world, so Carrie decides to travel down to the French Riviera to finally see him again and finish what they started years ago...

'Escape to the Riveria' is exactly the kind of read I look for on a warm summer's day or when I'm about to go on holiday; an entertaining and not-too-complicated read with a great setting and interesting characters. Protagonist Carrie is a character that I quite liked and I really enjoyed finding out more about her story. Together with her sister Angela and niece Jade, Carrie travels to the French Riviera for a well-deserved break, but also to track down her husband of several years Richard Maddox, who also happens to be an incredibly popular actor. The storyline of the novel was really entertaining and I loved reading about Carrie's actions and decisions and was curious to see how the story would end.

I always love romantic storylines where you can almost feel the sparks between the two characters coming off the pages and that was definitely the case in this novel. I also really enjoyed the fact that the author added a few extra smaller plotlines, to keep the reader's attention throughout the entire novel, and the setting, St. Tropez, was both glamorous and beautiful. The book is promoted as a great read for fans of Lucy Diamond and Jill Mansell and I can fully agree with that. Altogether, 'Escape to the Riviera' is a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining women's fiction read; perfect for a day on the beach or lying on a lounge chair somewhere with nothing to worry about!
Rating:9/10
